“An unmistakably singular sound”

Tenzin Chopak is a singer songwriter based in Ithaca, NY. Raised in Oak Ridge, TN with a singing minister father and water color and color pencil artist mother, Chopak was surrounded and suffused by art and music throughout his upbringing. The roots of music in the American south resonate deeply through his own unique voice which emerges as at once hauntingly timeless and fully his own. Chopak’s lyrics have been described as “incandescent”, “cinematic”, and “stunningly beautiful”, and are the beating heart of his music.
Tenzin is joined by his dear friend Emmett Scott (Dreamt, Big Mean Sound Machine, Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers) on backing vocals, piano, and analog Moog synthesizers. Emmett Scott is also an instructor in SUNY Cortland’s music department and is a sought after session musician involved in many various projects.
This performance will celebrate the release of their full length 12 song album Tenzin Chopak Live at Red Newt!
