Celebrating the historic “Summer Jam at Watkins Glen” festival that took place in 1973 which saw 600,000 music fans come out (nearly 200,000 more than the famous Woodstock festival of 1969), this concert will pay homage to the spirit and music of the fest with tributes to the three legendary acts who performed – The Allman Brothers Band, The Grateful Dead and The Band.
This concert will be produced by the musical directors of two other highly successful tributes to legendary concerts in the Rochester area; The Last Waltz 40th Anniversary Concert (November 2018 @ The Historic German House) and the Woodstock ROCS 50th Anniversary Celebration (August 2019 @ Park Point Concerts in the Square), both of which performed all the musical highlights of these concerts to enthusiastic, packed audiences.
Each of the three bands will be honored by one of Western NY’s premier tribute acts:
The Allman Brothers – Headlining the show will be the Blue Sky Brothers featuring an all-star musical lineup of members from some of Western NY’s favorite bands including Tony Gallichio (Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad), Kurt Johnson (Mikaela Davis & The Moho Collective), Kyle Vock (The Seven Wonders: Tribute to Fleetwood Mac), Eric Carlin (Eric Carlin’s Half-Dead), Alan Murphy (The Mighty High & Dry) and Matt Bevan-Perkins (The Uptown Groove) performing all the Allman Brothers favorite hits and B-sides.
The Band – This will see a revival of The Next Waltz tribute to The Band who performed the highly popular Last Waltz 40th Anniversary Concert at the German House in 2018 and featured many special guests such as Danielle Ponder, Tommy Brunett, Jimmy Richmond, Joe Dady, Frank DeBlase, Scott Regan and several more. You never know what guests might appear at a Next Waltz show!
The Grateful Dead – Opening the show will be Eric Carlin’s Half-Dead, the greater Rochester region’s favorite tribute to the Grateful Dead. While still relatively fresh to the Western NY scene, they’re already making a big splash in our area including recently selling out the Avon Park Theater and other venues. They bring a new energy to the music while still honoring the spirit of the band, including exact recreations of legendary Grateful Dead set lists.
Come and see what all the buzz is about as our region’s finest musicians celebrate one of the biggest concerts in all of rock history!
