Daniel King Band

November 12, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Daniel Aloysius King is a self-taught guitarist from Batavia, NY, with musical roots in rock-and-roll and progressive rock. In June 2014, he moved to Puerto Rico where he began to practice Spanish and flamenco guitar techniques. After two amazing years on the island, he returned to the Rochester area in September 2016. Inspired by the beauty of the island, Daniel composed his first album Plaza Caribe, and began to look for musicians interested in the Spanish guitars and Caribbean rhythms featured on the album. And so…

Daniel King Band began in Rochester, NY in 2017 initially as a trio of two guitarists (Daniel and Keith) and a percussionist (Steve). The band has since gone through several iterations before becoming an outstanding quintet, which now features Tim Forster on flute and Anthony Canchiani on bass guitar. With an all-star lineup of premier Rochester musicians, Daniel King Band brings listeners the beautiful, often tranquil, and frequently up-tempo dance rhythms of Latin music and Spanish guitar to any festival or event.

World-class friend/on-stage music director, Keith Dudinski is the band’s jovial and boisterous co-founder. A graduate of the Nazareth College of Music Education Program, Keith is a guitarist, performer, and teacher from Rochester, NY, and is becoming more prolific by the year as a performing musician for Latin, Folk, and Rock ensembles. Most notably, he is currently an active pit musician with GEVA Theater, in addition to several other theater productions.

Stephen Imburgia (IMBRO) is a drummer/percussionist who is currently performing with several bands and musicians in and around Rochester, NY. He plays a wide range of percussion instruments and has a broad knowledge of ethnic music styles. He spent three years collaborating and touring with Sankofa, an African Drum and Dance ensemble. In addition, he has performed with Borinquen Dance and Movida. Stephen has shared his experience and knowledge doing Arts in Education, Young Audience performances and clinics. He played drumset at Geva Theatre in the musical “Famous Orpheus” by Charles F. Gordon, which was in collaboration with the world renowned Garth Fagan Dance company.

The latest welcomed addition to DKB, flutist and co-founder of Sofrito Latin Jazz Quartet Tim Forster has performed in the Rochester area as a singer and flutist for the past 40 years. He also performed, managed, and recorded with his daughter, jazz vocalist Madeline Forster’s quintet for 8 years, sang in The Bowties a cappella group for 17 years, and is a freelance jazz & Latin flutist for many other projects. Additionally, Tim has been the Music Director for Fairport Canal Days since 2012 and is on the Music Committee for Perinton’s Center Stage summer concert series.

The all-things strings virtuoso from Guanica, Puerto Rico, Anthony Canchiani has been a long-time bass player for Daniel King Band while cultivating several music ventures in the Rochester, NY area. An amazing guitarist and cuatristo, he is most known for his group Banda Light. Anthony is also highly active in Rochester’s Latin music scene with Trio Latino while associating with numerous local legends. Follow your ears during the Puerto Rican Festival, and you are sure to find Anthony sharing his gift.
