9pm - Thomas Bryan Eaton Thomas Bryan Eaton was born under a full moon on the first day of Spring; shortly there after, he sat down at a piano for the first time and fell in head over heels. A true lover of music in all its forms, Thomas can play pretty much anything that makes noise, but likes to spend his time wandering around the frets of a guitar and singing songs with nice melodies. Aside from working on his own material, Thomas has also proven to be a valuable side man and studio musician. He has performed in bands with styles including honky-tonk, zydeco, swing, blues, and indie rock. You can find him on stage or on record with these bands: Basement Band, Miss Tess, Your 33 Black Angels, The Breedings, Ginny Hawker and Tracy Schwartz, Minerva Lions, Serena Jean, JP Harris and the Tough Choices, The Crooners, Vancans, Donna the Buffalo, Jim Miller, Yvette Landry, Preston Frank, Kelley and the Cowboys, Yonder Mountain String Band, Elephant Revival, Rachel Platten, Steve Waitt, and many, many more. http://www.thomasbryaneaton.com/ThomasBryanEaton/Home.html   10pm - Miss Tess & the Talkbacks “When you decide to go into the studio,” reflects Miss Tess from her home in New York City, “the timing has to be just right.” In fact, uncanny timing informs and enhances nearly everything Tess does, from her disarming, behind-the-beat vocal phrasing to her solid yet gently swinging rhythm guitar. In the years since she first emerged, she has wisely learned to trust her sense of timing. “In this case, we had a batch of unrecorded songs, the studio I wanted to use was available, and the band was tight after touring all year.” The resulting album, Sweet Talk (available October 16), is Tess’s first studio album in three years, her first for Signature Sounds, and the debut of her newly christened backing outfit, The Talkbacks. Listeners and critics agree. “I don’t know of anyone else right now touring in the Americana scene that has such an eclectic, jazzy, old school and interesting vibe,” says Clementine Cox on NoDepression.com. “There’s an authenticity present in Miss Tess’s music. It is not contrived, not too far a stretch for the skeptical imagination. She is real. And she is rare.” http://www.misstessmusic.com

9pm - Falling Hollywood Folk Rock/Alternative/Indie from Erie, PA in the vein of The Avett Brothers, Mumford and Sons, Jack White, The White Stripes, The Strokes. http://www.fallinghollywood.com/home.cfm   11pm- Mochester MoChester is a 4-piece rock/pop driven band from Rochester, NY. The band's name is actually a fusion of the city it started in and Motown, one of its original influences. The members of MoChester consists of Brandon Sheffer on lead vocals and guitar, Jonathan Sheffer on keys, guitar and backup vocals, Ben Overmyer on bass guitar, and Alex Melville on drums. The band was formed in 2001, but is facing a fresh start in 2011 with the addition of Overmyer, and the release of their debut album Stop and Go. MoChester has played at many well-known venues and events in Rochester, such as the Finger Lakes Racetrack and Casino, the Main Street Armory, the Water Street Music Hall, the Party in the Park Summer Concert Series, and the East End Festival. They have performed away from home as well, playing shows in the Syracuse and Buffalo regions, and even in Los Angeles, CA. They hope to continue building their fan base locally, and strive to continually expand and reach more people outside of the area as well. While the Motown groove provided direction for the band at its inception, currently MoChester's music draws comparisons to a variety of other acts, including O.A.R. and Incubus. The mainstream sound of the band is best described within the genres of rock, pop and alternative, and even at times has a reggae twist. Their harmony-rich hooks and radio-friendly grooves are sure to please the ears of fans both young and old. http://www.mochester.com/

Come share your music at what has been described by many as the hottest open mic night in town! Each performer is allowed either 2 or 3 songs (determined at the beginning of the night by how many performers are signed up). Performers that don't use "songs" (comedians, poets, improvisational music, etc) are allowed ten minutes for their set. Sign up sheet goes out about a half an hour or so before open mic begins, and order is determined on a first come/first serve basis. 1st spot gets an extra song! WE PROVIDE: The PA system (mics, speakers, etc), guitar cables, a baby grand piano, a host/sound engineer. Many times there are musicians hanging around to play if you are a singer without an accompanist! WE DON'T PROVIDE: Drums, guitar/bass amps, guitars. Unless you are a singer or pianist, bring your own instruments! Although the majority of our performances are on acoustic guitar/piano, we do allow full bands as long as the musicians are respectful of others time and space. If you are a drummer, it is suggested that you bring in your drums before open mic begins (8:30ish) and set them up off to the side as to make for a speedy transition and not disrupt others' performances. Live music begins around 8:30pm and goes until the night dies down (usually 11:30-12ish). Any other questions can be emailed to the show's host Willy O'Riley at willyoriley@lovincup.com.

It's that time again! Help us celebrate the wonderful LOCAL ART that adorns the walls of LOVIN' CUP.   This month's event features local artist Mary Moore: "With humble start I transitioned from art for "me" vs. art for “all”. I was lucky enough to have a few believe in my artistic ability.  I was able to push my ego aside to make room for my vulnerability. Being subject to criticism and praise are equally uncomfortable for me. That being said, I still get that knot of uncertainty after every completed piece or start to a show. The difference now is my ideals of what it is supposed to be. As art is subject to interpretation and what moves me, may not move you. Letting go of the fear and letting the unknown just happen." Specialties:mixed medium outside the box artistic techniques See more of Mary at: http://www.moorethenart.com   Mary will be performing a live painting to accompany the music at 9:30 , and will be auctioning off the painting with all proceeds going towards human touch initiative. HTI’s mission is simple: To provide people with cancer access to massage, known for the relief of the side effects of cancer and its treatments. http://www.humantouchinitiative.org/       DJ Holloway will kick off the music for the night, followed by a live performance from the Moho Collective!   THE MOHO COLLECTIVE It takes talent to define a genre. It takes courage to defy genres. Combining elements of jazz, folk, funk, rock, and experimental and ethnic music, The Moho Collective, an instrumental trio from Rochester, NY, strives for a raw, open, and free-form sound. They accomplish this best through improvisation and dynamic song structures, proving vocals are not necessary to engage the listener if the music speaks for itself. http://www.themohocollective.com

"Lovin' Cup Unplugged" Dinner Show series continues this week with Micah... Micah is an up and coming singer-songwriter originally from Rochester, NY. He spent the last four years living in Boston, while receiving a bachelor's degree in Music Business from Northeastern University in May of 2010. Singing and playing music since he was just a child, Micah has grown significantly in his abilities. Since he was 16 years old he’s been steadily gigging, starting off in the coffeehouse scene and most recently headlining shows at clubs throughout the Northeast, as well as appearances in the Mid-West and West Coast. Currently, Micah has two albums in his discography, his debut self titled ‘Micah EP’, and the second, a full length album titled ‘Coast To Coast’; released early July 2010 and available on iTunes. Micah just recently completed his first headlining tour ‘The Hearts on Fire Singer-Songwriter Tour’ and wants to build momentum and continue touring extensively. If you get a chance to see Micah play, you too will see what everyone is talking about.
