MY PLASTIC SUN My Plastic Sun is a new band with a sound that is lush and ambient yet immensely powerful. Major indie blogs have been comparing them to Radiohead, Coldplay, Beach House…and the Beatles. A sample of some of the reviewers and bloggers recent comments: “Cummings’ vocals sound like the voice of Coldplay and Radiohead’s indie baby lovechild.” Indie Shuffle “The band have a sense of rock ‘n’ roll tenderness that recalls Blur circa 1999 and dare-I-say The Beatles. Quite frankly, the heartbreaking “Give it All Away” is simply that good. Don’t believe me? Listen for yourself.” UK’s GivePopAChance “This release is the product of musicians with stratospheric levels of talent creating spectacular melodies colored with gorgeous layering, pop sensibilities and immediately memorable lyrics.” UpstateLive The band is currently engaged on multiple fronts. Two time Emmy award winning cinematographers the Olson Brothers have just completed My Plastic Sun’s first music video. The band is also in the recording studio finishing off their first full length CD while at the same time gearing up for live shows. 2012 is gonna be a very busy and promising year for My Plastic Sun. Johnny Cummings Lead Vocals, Piano, Synths, Organ, Mellotrons, Lead Electric Guitars, Acoustic Guitars, Bass, Banjo Roy Stein Drums, Percussion, Sampling and Programming, assorted keyboards and synths, electric and acoustic guitars, background vocals, orderer of pizza Sam Snyder Electric and acoustic guitars Kyle Vock Electric and upright bass http://myplasticsun.com

Beer by 3HB and delicious snacks by Sticky Lips! A Rochester Beer week Finale Celebration of New York Beers!  DJ LOGIC AND FRIENDS -featuring DJ Logic, Steve Molitz (Particle), Allen Aucoin (The Disco Biscuits)and Jesse Miller (Lotus) DJ LOGIC - The theorem of turntablist as musician has been long proven in the capable hands of DJ LOGIC, whom with jazz as his foundation has become a wax innovator by crossing genres and sprinkling his sound across the map. As one of the world's most accomplished turntablist’s, DJ LOGIC is widely credited for introducing jazz into the hip - hop realms and is considered by most as a highly respected session musician and an innovative bandleader. Notable for a mountain of collaborations ranging from the likes of: MEDESKI MARTIN AND WOOD, CHRISTIAN MCBRIDE, VERNON REID, CHARLIE HUNTER, JACK DeJOHNETTE, JOHN MAYER, BEN HARPER, MOS DEF and THE ROOTS, to name but a few. STEVE MOLITZ - Composer and keyboardist Steve Molitz has played over a thousand shows around the world since he started his career as a touring musician in 2000. His Los Angeles based electrorock band Particle has played all the major US festivals from Bonnaroo to Lollapalooza, and has received critical praise from Rolling Stone, CNN, and The New York Times. ALLEN AUCOIN - Allen Aucoin is all about pushing his musical limits. The Georgia-born, Berklee-bred drummer joined the Disco Biscuits in 2005, and since then, he's presented artistry beyond imagination, drumming up beats and patterns seemingly impossible from human limbs. On his Zildijan drums and mix of Edrum pads, Aucoin's precision and pace are forces to be reckoned with. As a Disco Biscuit, he adds danceable definition, activating the thunder in an unparalleled storm of jamtronic flooding. On his own, he tours as his alter ego, DrFameus, a one-man beat machine likened to a spiraling tornado that never loses its speed. And although calling him a disaster would be a disservice, natural is quite a suitable way to describe this phenomenal man's gifted talent.  JESSE MILLER - Since the band’s inception, Lotus has explored the musical grounds, taking a little bit from here and a little from there, until they eventually moved off the map and created their own sound.  Most notably known as a multi-genre jam band, they incorporate a wide range of styles including elements of rock, electronic music, jazz, funk, and more.  Because of their style and stage presence, they’re a must-see live band. Jesse Miller said of the band's sound: "I truly believe Lotus' sound comes from the roots of rock 'n' roll mixed with electronic beats that are popular today. It took a long time for us to finally find a sound we all agreed on. But believe me, we experimented plenty before deciding what sound we were looking for".   AM AND SHAWN LEE Tulsa-born and New Orleans-raised, indie artist AM brings a heady brew of twanging Americana, twinkling Anglified folk-rock-pop, caressing Philly soul and funky R&B whatchacallit — and, best of all, joyously unheard points in-between. AM does all this with an acute, finessing ear for the ancient art of real, true songcraft. Sure, AM’s very personal brand of pop is sturdily built, but so are Mack trucks. What we’d like to point your attention to are the brashly bold new shapes he brings to bear on the modern pop song, with, arguably, some of the best bridges and choruses in the bizness. Superbly, subtly drawn arrangements of said material, whether drawing from the Beatles and Badfinger or Curtis Mayfield and Jorge Ben, demonstrate over and again this simple fact of songwriting life: that Imagination and taste is what it’s all about…and these are, of course, things you couldn’t buy with all the gold in the realm. If you watch the tele maybe you’ve heard AM’s tunes on HBO’s “Big Love” MTV “The Hills”, ABC’s “Brothers and Sisters” and a dizzying array of other television shows and films. “Hypnotic” – Rolling Stone “The perfect Friday afternoon track” – Nylon Magazine “Indie iconoclasts join forces. Results heavenly” – **** Q Magazine   Mosaic Foundation Mosaic Foundation, a nine-piece roots reggae band hailing from Rochester, NY, was formed out of a mutual love and passion for reggae music. Their aim is to create a new dimension to the roots reggae scene while staying true to the foundation of the music. Band member’s influences are as broad as their roots with players coming from Cameroon, Hong Kong, Canada and ethnic roots stemming from Jamaica, Lebanon and across Europe. This unique blend of roots woven through the music are meant to invoke in the listener a sense of freedom, peace, connection and heart centered vibes.   Moho Collective It takes talent to define a genre. It takes courage to defy genres.  Combining elements of jazz, folk, funk, rock, and experimental and ethnic music, The Moho Collective, an instrumental trio from Rochester, NY, strives for a raw, open, and free-form sound. They accomplish this best through improvisation and dynamic song structures, proving vocals are not necessary to engage the listener if the music speaks for itself. www,themohocollective.com RIPROC   afterparty with Roots Collider  first come first admitted tickets on sale at ticketweb.com

Come share your music at what has been described by many as the hottest open mic night in town! Each performer is allowed either 2 or 3 songs (determined at the beginning of the night by how many performers are signed up). Performers that don't use "songs" (comedians, poets, improvisational music, etc) are allowed ten minutes for their set. Sign up sheet goes out about a half an hour or so before open mic begins, and order is determined on a first come/first serve basis. 1st spot gets an extra song! WE PROVIDE: The PA system (mics, speakers, etc), guitar cables, a baby grand piano, a host/sound engineer. Many times there are musicians hanging around to play if you are a singer without an accompanist! WE DON'T PROVIDE: Drums, guitar/bass amps, guitars. Unless you are a singer or pianist, bring your own instruments! Although the majority of our performances are on acoustic guitar/piano, we do allow full bands as long as the musicians are respectful of others time and space. If you are a drummer, it is suggested that you bring in your drums before open mic begins (8:30ish) and set them up off to the side as to make for a speedy transition and not disrupt others' performances. Live music begins around 8:30pm and goes until the night dies down (usually 11:30-12ish). Any other questions can be emailed to the show's host Willy O'Riley at willyoriley@lovincup.com.
